  • Can we buy direct from you? Open or Close

    Travel Is Living (Unleashed) is a registered Travel Agency in NSW and as such can deal direct with the public and take direct bookings. • What is a security deposit and do I need to pay it? Open or Close

    If you are staying on Plantation Island or Mana Island you will need to pay a security deposit. A security deposit is to be paid per person at check-in, in case there is any damage to your room. Upon check-out, if your room is at the same standard as it was when you checked in, your deposit will be returned in full. It is up to you to follow this up with the resort staff upon check-out.

    Cost of Room Deposit (To be paid at check-in):
    • Plantation Island $500 FJD per person.
    • Mana Island $500 FJD per person.

    What if I can't pay the security deposit?
    We understand that not all 17-18 year olds will have access or have their own credit/debit card. Due to this, Unleashed also offer Accidental Damage Protection which is an alternative to the security deposit. Each traveller has the option to pre-pay a one off fee of $39.00 to Unleashed which will have the resort security deposit waived upon arrival.

    If you would like to know more about this Accidental Damage Protection, please contact our reservations team at: info@unleashedtravel.com.au  or 1800 981 320.

  • How do I stay in touch with my Family & Friends back home? Open or Close

    While on our Trips, we recommend you take an unlocked phone so you can purchase a local sim card to top up with credit. You can text and call everyone at home and make them all jealous about all the fun you’re having. On all of our Island Trips, you will also be able to pay to use the Internet and Wi-Fi and top up your account, as you need to.

  • How do I pay for Sundries and Activities on the island? Open or Close

    There are no ATM’s on the Islands in Fiji & Vanuatu. Payments can be made in any of the following ways:

    • Personal account: Each individual guest for Fiji & Vanuatu Grad Trip will be issued a personal account number (on a wrist band) at check in. This is designed for guests to bill drinks, snacks and activities to this unique number. The guest can then use this for all purchases and no cash is required in day-to-day transactions other than purchases on Islands other than the one they are staying on. The guest has the option of settling this account daily to keep track on how much they’re spending or at check out. They will be able to settle this account with a credit card, cash in the local currency or a Visa/MasterCard debit card or Travel Money Card.
    • Cash: Cash must be brought onto the Trip in the local currency and we highly recommend getting this prior to departure. There is an ATM in the airport although this is often very busy and transfer busses will not wait so you may miss out on getting cash.
    • Local Currency:
Fiji = Fijian Dollar (FJD)
Vanuatu = Vatu (VUV)

Cambodia = US Dollars (USD)
    • Credit Cards: Credit cards are the most widely used form of payment in Fiji. Drinks, snacks and activities can be billed to your personal account number and you sign and print your name. You will get a bill with the each purchase itemized. We highly recommend paying off your personal bill every day so you keep track of how much you are spending.
    • Pre-Paid Visa/MasterCard Debit & Travel Money cards: It is understandable that not everyone will have a credit card. We highly recommend using a Visa/MasterCard pre-paid debit card or a Travel Money Card. These behave like a credit card i.e. Swipe and sign, but are pre-loaded with cash as opposed to going into credit. These cards are great for those under 18 years of age.
    • Please note these are different to EFTPOS debit cards. The EFTPOS option on your regular bank card will not work so please ensure you have a Debit card issued from any of the following: Banks, the Post Office, Travel Agents or Travelex.

    Please note: There are no ATM’s on the Islands in Fiji & Vanuatu.

  • Can I use my parent or guardian’s credit card to pay for my personal account? Open or Close

    Yes you can. In our pre-departure information on the back page there is a form for your parent/guardian to sign in the event that they give you permission to use their card details. You will have the option to use this for either your bond, your personal account or both. You must keep this form and take it with you to the island and give it to the resort staff upon check in. They will store it in a secure place, so no need to worry about carrying this around with you.

  • Is there an ATM? Open or Close

    None of the Islands have an ATM. We recommend the use of charge back facility, i.e. running a room tab for water sports, snacks and bar bills, Then simply paying the amount at the end of the trip with any major Credit or Debit Card. For those of you in dorms each bunk has a number, so don't worry there won't be a bunch of guys on the last night trying to figure out who had 3 Margarita's. But if you wish to you can take local currency, a debit / credit card and pay as you go along.

  • What do I do with my valuables? Open or Close

    The reception will gladly put a sealed envelope into the safe for your stay including your wallet, credit cards, passport etc. All Bures are lockable and for those in dorms each bed has a large lockable cupboard that you can put backpacks etc. into.

FAQs - Europe

  • Do I need travel insurance? Open or Close

    Yes. Comprehensive travel insurance is compulsory on all Unleashed Grad Trips. This should be taken out at the time of booking. You can also purchase travel insurance with us through our partner QBE. through our partner QBE.

    We recommend getting a comprehensive travel insurance policy which covers you for all medical expenses (including repatriation) and any expensive items you bring away with you such as laptops, tablets, smart phones and cameras. Check the policy wording and excess limits before you book and make sure they are to your satisfaction. Travel insurance should be taken out at the time of booking in case of unforeseen events which may lead you to cancel your trip.

    For more information, please visit the Travel Insurance page of this website, where you can find more tips about what to look for in a policy and search for a policy from QBE.

  • What visas will I need? Open or Close

    Obtaining correct visas is your own responsibility. Not having correct visas could mean you missing out on part or all of your trip. Please refer to the Visa Information section of this website (which should be used as a guide only) or ask your travel agent. You should also double check with the individual Embassies before you depart, remembering that visa requirements can change at short notice.

    For most of the countries where visas are required, it is NOT possible to obtain the visa whilst on the trip and some visas take 3-4 weeks to obtain.

  • What will I need to bring with me? Open or Close

    A common problem is people bringing too many things! Oh, and don't forget your camera, passport, visas and a positive attitude! If you suffer from any medical condition please bring extra supplies of medication as it could be difficult to find in Europe.

  • What about spending money? Open or Close

    Naturally everybody's spending varies. There are many souvenirs to be bought and a great social scene should you wish to join in! Many of your meals are included, so this really just leaves a few meals and your personal spending to budget for.

    Throughout the trip, your Trip Leader will also inform you of optional activities which you can participate in, such as a gondola ride in Venice or an excursion up the Jungfrau Mountain in Switzerland. Most people budget approximately €70 per day including optional activities and some souvenirs.

  • Do I need to change money before I leave? Open or Close

    We recommend that you change approximately €100 in cash before departure and the equivalent of around €30 into Swiss Francs (if your trip goes through Switzerland). This will cover you for spending money until you have the chance to change more or visit an ATM.

    ATMs are extremely common throughout all European countries. If you are visiting any other countries outside of the 'Eurozone' you will find that most of them accept euros as payment, or you will be able to withdraw local currency from an ATM after arriving in the country. This is the most convenient way to access local currency, just make sure to notify your bank of your travel plans before you depart.

  • What if I am a smoker? Open or Close

    Smoking is not permitted on our coaches, however we stop regularly while travelling from place to place. Smoking is not permitted in any type of accommodation, including our tents.

  • Can I drink tap water in Europe? Open or Close

    Tap water is fine to drink in Europe, however we advise that bottled water should be purchased in Greece and Turkey.

  • What if I am on a special diet? Open or Close

    If you have special dietary requirements e.g. vegetarian or vegan, we will make every endeavour to cater for your specific needs as long as you tell us or your travel agent when you book. Unfortunately in some places in Europe it is not possible to obtain certain special foods, and we cannot guarantee the variety of foods available when eating out. There are some diets we are unable to cater for such as religious diets, so if you are unsure please call us or ask your travel agent to check.

    Please re-confirm any dietary requirements with your Trip Leader at the start of your trip.

  • Will I be contactable on my trip? Open or Close

    As well as having regular access to internet cafés throughout Europe, if someone needs to contact you in the case of an emergency, the Unleashed Head Office will be able to get in touch with your Unleashed Crew.

  • How much time will I spend on the coach? Open or Close

    We try to spend as little time on the coach as possible so that you have more time to enjoy the places you visit. Please remember though that Europe is a large place and it takes time to get around! On driving days between cities you will be on the coach during the day, stopping off to visit places of interest where possible.

    Strict driving rules apply in Europe that limits the maximum number of hours your Driver can drive each day. They also limit the maximum number of days that can be driven before a day off must be taken. We have worked hard to make sure this does not affect your trip, but in some cities it means we will use public transport. The cost for this is included in your trip price and your Trip Leader will show you how to get around.
