What to Pack for Fiji Schoolies: The Ultimate 2026 Grad Trip Packing List

by Isabella Ross, 4 weeks ago

Fiji Schoolies is getting closer, your group chat is probably full of outfit inspo, and somehow thinking about what you're wearing to Baywatch is way more exciting than studying for exams.

You definitely don't need to have your suitcase packed yet, but now is the perfect time to start figuring out what you're actually taking with you, especially when you've got six Unleashed theme-night fits to plan.

Between days by the pool, activities with your friends, exploring Fiji and getting ready for theme nights, there's a lot to think about.

So, we've made it easy.

Here's your ultimate Fiji Schoolies packing list, including what belongs in your 20kg checked suitcase, what to keep in your 7kg carry-on, what you'll actually wear in Fiji and everything you'll need for your Unleashed theme nights.

Save this checklist and send it straight to the Fiji group chat.

First Things First: The Stuff You REALLY Can't Forget

You can survive forgetting an extra T-shirt.

Your passport? Not so much.

Before you start thinking about bikinis, outfits and accessories, get the important stuff sorted.

Check your passport and Fiji entry requirements well before departure so you've got plenty of time to organise anything you need.

You'll also need access to money while you're away. Bring your usual debit or travel card and, if possible, have a backup payment option. A Wise card or similar travel card can also be useful for overseas spending.

Keep your passport, important documents, valuables and essential medications with you in your carry-on rather than your checked suitcase.

Basically: if you'd panic about losing it, don't put it in your checked suitcase.

20kg Suitcase vs 7kg Carry-On: What Actually Goes Where?

For your Unleashed Fiji trip, you'll have a 20kg checked baggage allowance and 7kg carry-on allowance.

Your checked suitcase is where most of your clothes, shoes, toiletries and theme-night outfits belong.

Your carry-on is for the important stuff: your passport, valuables, electronics and enough essentials to get you through your first day if your checked bag happens to be delayed.

Pack in Your 20kg Checked Suitcase

This is where most of your Fiji stuff belongs:

  • Most of your clothes
  • Theme-night outfits and accessories
  • Shoes
  • Full-sized toiletries
  • Hair and beauty products
  • Sunscreen and after-sun
  • First aid essentials
  • Packing cubes and wet bags

Pack full-sized liquids and toiletries securely in your checked suitcase. Putting them into sealed or zip-lock bags is also a good idea unless you want your shampoo becoming part of your School's Out outfit.

Pack in Your 7kg Carry-On

Your carry-on should contain anything important, valuable or difficult to replace.

Pack:

  • Passport
  • Travel documents
  • Wallet
  • Debit/travel card
  • Phone
  • Phone charger
  • Portable charger/power bank
  • Headphones
  • Digital camera
  • Camera battery/charger
  • Essential medications
  • Sunglasses
  • One bikini/pair of swimming shorts
  • One lightweight change of clothes
  • Underwear
  • Toothbrush
  • Travel-sized toiletries that meet applicable requirements
  • Period products
  • A couple of electrolyte sachets
  • Empty reusable water bottle to fill after security
  • Light jumper or hoodie for the flight
  • Travel insurance information, if applicable
  • Any other valuables

One of our biggest tips: put swimmers and a change of clothes in your carry-on.

If your checked suitcase is delayed, you'll still be able to change, get to the pool and start enjoying Fiji without waiting for your entire wardrobe to arrive.

Remember that power banks and spare lithium batteries are generally required to travel in your carry-on rather than checked baggage. Always check your airline's current baggage and dangerous-goods requirements before flying.

so What Is Everyone Wearing to the Theme Nights?

Let's be real. You're probably thinking about this before you're thinking about how many pairs of socks you're taking.

You've got six Unleashed theme outfits to plan for, so don't leave six outfits until the night before your flight.

Start screenshotting inspo, send your ideas to the group chat and work out what you can use from your wardrobe, borrow from friends or DIY before buying everything new.

School's Out

You've waited 13 years for this one.

Think school shirts, ties, skirts, jerseys and school-inspired accessories. It's your chance to celebrate finishing Year 12 and say School's Out for good.

Baywatch

If it's red, you're probably on the right track.

Think red bikinis, swimming shorts, lifeguard-inspired fits, visors, sunnies and beach accessories.

Keep it fun, lightweight and ready for a Fiji pool party.

Ultra Unleashed

Your Fiji music festival night.

Think crochet, sequins, scarves, cool sunglasses, matching sets and statement accessories.

Add pops of colour, interesting textures or standout accessories to turn a simple outfit into a festival fit.

Just remember you're going to be dancing in Fiji heat, so plan accordingly.

Dress As Your Type

Exactly what it sounds like: dress as your type.

For the girls, think tradie, surfer, athlete, gym guy, musician, corporate guy or whatever your usual type happens to be.

For the guys, think cheerleader, gym girl, tennis girl, cowgirl, nurse, influencer or your own take on your type.

The funnier and more specific, the better. Get the group chat involved, coordinate your fits and see if your friends can guess your type before you tell them.

Secrets of the Sea

Mermaid? Sailor? Pirate? Something blue because you left your outfit until the last minute?

All valid.

Think blue, aqua, white and silver with pearls, shells, shimmer, bandanas and ocean-inspired accessories.

Go all out with a character or keep it easy with a blue-and-white fit and a few ocean-inspired accessories.

Midnight Sun

Think Fiji sunset.

Inspired by Zara Larsson's Midnight Sun, this theme is all about bright summer colours with a sunset feel.

For the girls, think colourful mini dresses, matching sets, skirts and shades of pink, orange and yellow.

For the guys, a pale pink, orange, yellow or colourful shirt paired with neutral shorts is an easy win.

The vibe? Fiji sunset after dark.

Theme-night hack: Pack each complete theme outfit with its accessories in a separate packing cube or bag. When you're getting ready in Fiji, you can grab the whole fit without digging through your suitcase for the one accessory you swear you packed.

What Clothes Do You Actually Need for Your Fiji grad trip?

Think hot weather, island days and easy outfits.

You'll spend plenty of time in swimwear, shorts and lightweight clothing, so you definitely don't need your entire wardrobe.

Bring a few bikinis or pairs of swimming shorts so you can rotate them throughout the week. Trust us, having another pair ready is much better than putting wet swimmers back on.

For daytime, bring lightweight basics you can throw on for breakfast, activities, exploring or heading to and from the pool.

Clothing Checklist

  • 3-4 bikinis or pairs of swimming shorts
  • Shorts
  • T-shirts
  • Singlets/tank tops
  • Lightweight tops
  • Summer dresses or skirts
  • Casual daytime outfits
  • Underwear
  • Socks
  • Pyjamas
  • Sarong or beach cover-up
  • Light jumper or hoodie for travelling
  • Hat or cap
  • Sunglasses
  • Your six theme-night outfits

Packing tip: Choose pieces you can mix and match. Fiji is relaxed, so lightweight, comfortable clothes will be your best friend.

How Many Pairs of Shoes Do You Actually Need?

Probably fewer than you think.

A pair of thongs, sandals and comfortable sneakers or running shoes should cover most of your trip.

Pack:

  • Thongs
  • Sandals
  • Running shoes or comfortable sneakers
  • Optional water shoes for water-based activities

Most importantly, don't bring brand-new shoes you've never worn before.

Fiji Schoolies is not the place to discover your new sandals give you blisters.

You can probably leave the uncomfortable heels and expensive shoes at home too. Island life is much more relaxed.

Pool, Beach & Sun Essentials

You're heading to Fiji, so expect plenty of time outside.

High-SPF sunscreen/sunblock should be one of the first things in your suitcase. Getting badly burnt at the beginning of your trip is definitely not how you want to spend your week.

Pack:

  • High-SPF sunscreen/sunblock
  • SPF lip balm
  • After-sun or aloe vera
  • Hat or cap
  • Sunglasses
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Sarong/beach cover-up
  • Beach or tote bag
  • Waterproof phone pouch
  • Hair ties/claw clips
  • Tanning oil, if you use it

If you bring tanning oil, remember it isn't a replacement for proper sun protection. Prioritise high-SPF sunscreen, shade and responsible sun protection.

Toiletries & First Aid

You don't need to bring your entire bathroom cabinet, but make sure you've got the products you actually use every day.

Toiletries:

  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Deodorant
  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • Body wash
  • Face cleanser
  • Moisturiser
  • Hairbrush/comb
  • Hair ties/clips
  • Hair products
  • Shaving products
  • Makeup and makeup remover
  • Period products
  • Contact lenses and solution, if required
  • Personal medications
  • Perfume/cologne

It's also worth putting together a small personal first aid kit with things like bandaids, blister patches, antiseptic wipes and any basic health products you regularly use.

Electrolyte sachets are another easy addition. Fiji is hot, so staying hydrated throughout your trip is important.

The Tech You'll Want in Fiji

Your camera roll is about to get a serious upgrade.

Between photos with your friends, TikToks, sunsets, pool days and theme nights, make sure your tech is sorted before you leave.

Tech Checklist:

  • Phone
  • Phone charger
  • Portable charger/power bank
  • Charging cables
  • Headphones
  • Digital camera
  • Camera charger
  • Memory card
  • Travel adaptor, if required for your devices
  • Waterproof phone pouch

And remember to clear some storage on your phone before you leave.

You do not want to be standing at a Fiji pool party deleting screenshots because you've run out of storage.

A Few Extras You'll Be Glad You Packed

You don't need to pack every travel hack you've ever seen on TikTok, but a few extras can make your trip much easier:

  • Wet bag or zip-lock bags for swimmers
  • Small crossbody bag
  • Snacks for travelling
  • Eye mask
  • Earplugs
  • Extra charging cable

A wet bag is especially useful for separating wet swimmers from everything else in your suitcase.

Things You Definitely Don't Need to Bring to Fiji

One of the biggest Fiji Schoolies packing mistakes is bringing too much.

You don't need your entire wardrobe.

Avoid packing expensive jewellery, unnecessary valuables, uncomfortable shoes or loads of heavy clothing.

If something is extremely valuable or you'd be devastated if it went missing, ask yourself whether you actually need to bring it.

And don't fill your 20kg suitcase to the absolute limit on the way there.

Leave yourself some spare room. It'll make packing at the end of your trip much easier and gives you space for anything you pick up in Fiji.
