UCrew Reveals What You Actually Need to Pack for Fiji

Hey hey, Graddies! If you’re reading this, the countdown to your Fiji trip with Unleashed Grad Trips is officially on. The vibes? Immaculate. The group chat? Already popping off. And, luckily for you, our UCrew has come through with the ultimate packing tips to make sure you’re prepped and ready.

WAIT, WHAT’S UCREW?

UCrew are past Unleashed travellers who had such a good time on their grad trip that they came back to help future grads (aka you) get the most out of the trip. Think of them as your older and wiser siblings with all the Unleashed insider goss. So, when we asked them to drop their ultimate packing advice, they delivered.

They spilled their best packing tips - the essentials, the underrated must-haves, and the stuff they wish they didn’t forget (spoiler: it’s a beach towel). Therefore, before you zip up your suitcase, read this. From comfy airport fits to the one thing everyone forgets (yes, we’re looking at you, beach towel), this is your official Fiji Grad Trip packing list, with real advice from real grads who’ve been there, done that - and wished they packed one more bikini.

AIRPORT FIT = FIRST IMPRESSIONS

Let’s start with your plane outfit. Comfort is key, but that doesn’t mean you can’t look cute.

"I wore trackie shorts and a big oversized tee. You want to be cosy on the flight, but once you land, it's HOT - like straight into swimwear hot!" - Ella, UCrew

Think light, breathable layers - and don’t forget a hoodie or jumper for the plane's aircon. You’ll want something you can easily take off once you land in humid, tropical paradise.

Bonus tip: What if you run into your airport crush? You want to be comfy enough to nap but still look cute if you accidentally lock eyes with someone cute while ordering a Boost. Pick a fit that says “I’m chill but effortlessly cool,” and throw on a cap or sunnies if you’re rolling in at 6am.

You never know - Fiji might not be the only love story you come back with.

DAYWEAR: DON’T JUST PACK BIKINIS

Yes, you’ll be in swimwear 90% of the time, but there is still that 10% where normal clothes are a must.

"A major mistake I made was not packing enough shorts and t-shirts. You’ll want them for breakfast, activities, and moving around the resort." - Ella, UCrew

So, make sure you’ve packed:

  • Light t-shirts or tanks
  • Comfy shorts
  • A couple of breezy dinner outfits for sunset dinners and Instagram content pics
  • Something dry and fresh for flights home

You won’t need jeans or anything heavy - it’s humid and casual vibes all week.

ACTIVEWEAR? YES.

Fiji isn’t just about beach hangs - there’s sunset yoga, waterfall hikes, beach volleyball, and more exciting activities.

"Pack at least one activewear fit! The yoga by the water is free and SO worth it. You don’t want to be doing downward dog in a bikini." - Ella, UCrew

Therefore, bring:

  • A sports bra or crop
  • Biker shorts or leggings
  • Runners (trust us - you don’t want to hike in slides)
SWIMWEAR: MORE THAN ONE

You’ll be in and out of the ocean and pool all day, every day.

"I brought like three pairs and still ended up re-wearing wet ones. Pack extras. And for the love of the sun, bring a beach towel!" - Ella, UCrew

So, here’s what you’ll need:

  • At least 4 to 5 swimsuits or bikinis
  • A beach towel (don’t rely on the resort for this!)
  • Optional: sarong or cover-up for walking around the resort

Pro tip: Use a mesh laundry bag to store your wet swimmers separately.

THEME NIGHT FITS: GO ALL OUT

Every night is a party, and every party has a theme. This isn’t the time to be low-key.

"Everyone - and I mean everyone - dresses up. It’s way more fun when you go all in." - Max, UCrew

Theme nights are the highlight of every evening in Fiji - and yes, everyone goes all in. This is your chance to show up and show out.

To kick things off, scroll through Pinterest or TikTok for theme night outfit inspiration before your trip. There’s no shortage of ideas, and it’ll get you hyped. Once you’ve got an idea, start planning your outfits ahead of time - trust us, last-minute panic is not the move.

Even better, if you’re travelling with your mates, coordinate your costumes for next-level group pics that will live rent-free on your Insta forever.

The bottom line? The more effort you put into your fits, the more fun you’ll have. After all, no one wants to be the only one in regular clothes when everyone else is rocking cowboy hats, glitter, and neon gear. Go bold - it’s all part of the Fiji experience.

PACKING HACKS FROM THE PROS

Don’t just throw your stuff in a suitcase and hope for the best. UCrew has packing down to an art.

"I used zip-up packing cubes (cheap from Kmart) to separate shirts, swimmers, and party stuff. It saved so much time and space." - Max, UCrew

More smart hacks:

  • Roll your clothes to save room
  • Use a separate bag or cube just for themed outfits
  • Keep a spare tote bag for day trips or souvenir shopping
  • Bring plastic zip-lock bags for wet swimmers, sand-covered sandals, or leaky toiletries
TOILETRIES: THINK TROPICAL

You don’t need to bring the entire bathroom cupboard, but there are some essentials you can’t leave behind.

Must-Haves:

  • Sunscreen (reef-safe if possible)
  • After-sun lotion or aloe vera
  • Moisturiser - Fiji’s saltwater dries your skin fast
  • Hydrating lip balm
  • Shampoo + conditioner
  • Deodorant (it’s humid, friends)
  • Toothbrush + toothpaste
  • Panadol or Nurofen for headaches, bandaids for blisters, and antihistamines if you’re prone to mozzie bites
  • Period supplies (even if you're not expecting it-better safe than sorry)

Don’t stress if you forget something - there’s a convenience store at your resort stocked with essentials.

EXTRAS YOU’LL BE GLAD YOU BROUGHT

"I was so glad I packed a speaker. Made getting ready with my roomies even more fun." - Ella, UCrew

Add these to your list:

  • Bluetooth speaker for pre-party vibes
  • Power bank (you’ll be taking photos constantly)
  • Sunglasses
  • Reusable water bottle-stay hydrated!
  • Passport (duh, but also-don’t forget it!)
  • Copies of important documents (just in case)
LAUNDRY + WEATHER REALITY CHECK

Let’s be real: you won’t be doing laundry. With Fiji’s humidity, nothing dries quickly, and there’s always a chance of sudden tropical rain.

"I wish I packed more clean t-shirts. Everything stays damp longer than you think." - UCrew

Therefore, make sure you’ve got:

  • A few spare t-shirts and swimmers
  • One light jumper or jacket in case it cools down at night
THE FINAL WORD: PACK LIGHT, PACK SMART

You’re only away for a week but it’s a huge week. You’ll want to feel comfortable, confident, and stress-free.

"Less is more. I packed my whole wardrobe and learned very quickly that it was NOT necessary." - UCrew

Instead:

  • Prioritise light, breathable clothing
  • Focus on theme night outfits
  • Bring essentials (toiletries, swimmers, meds)
  • Leave room for souvenirs
  • Don’t forget your beach towel or passport!
FINAL PACKING REMINDER BEFORE YOU FLY TO FIJI

This trip will be one of the best weeks of your life. So, don’t sweat the small stuff and take the time to prep now! You don't want to be stuck stressing over a missing pair of swimmers or a forgotten charger.

So, now that you know exactly what to pack for your schoolies, what are you waiting for? Grab your mates, start packing, and get ready for the best week of your life.

See you in Fiji!
